Shanghai leads tourists' picks
SHANGHAI will be the hottest domestic tour destination this year because of the 2010 World Expo, according to an online travel service's recent survey.
And Africa could be the newest popular destination for Chinese tourists.
Lvmama.com, one of China's biggest online travel service Websites, interviewed 8,000 Chinese tourists. Around 62 percent said they will come to Shanghai for the Expo, Website officials said yesterday.
The Expo, which is expected to attract more than 70 million tourists from both home and abroad, should also bolster tourism of the Yangtze Delta Region, the survey showed.
Besides the Expo site, visitors are also attracted to the new look of Shanghai after a long-time restoration and tour packages covering the Yangtze Delta Region, officials said.
As for out-bound tourism, about 26 percent of those interviewed said they would go abroad this year, with Africa high on their list.
