Shanghai police smash bogus liquor ring
SHANGHAI police said they have busted a criminal ring that sold fake liquor in the city.
Eleven suspects have been arrested with the last two captured last week, officials said today.
The suspects began to smuggle counterfeit liquor from southeastern Fujian Province in 2010. The liquor was labeled as famous brands and sold at cheaper prices, police said.
They had a warehouse in downtown Putuo District and distribution outlets across the city. Putuo police said they seized 1,300 bottles of fake liquor and wine worth more than 400,000 yuan (US$82,800).
