Shanghai takes census in November
China's sixth population census will start on November 1 in Shanghai while all foreigners and people from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan who live in the city will be included for the first time.
Shanghai's census will be conducted during November 1 to November 30 when investigators will collect information from local residents such as age, nationality and occupation.
The data collected will help design the country's 12th five-year plan. It will offer accurate information for China to map economic and social development, according to a notice posted on the central government's Website.
The last population census was taken in 2000, when China's population was at 1.29533 billion.
