Shopping mall 'bomb' turns out to be clothing
THE "bomb" that forced a shopping mall in Putuo District to seal off its entrance temporarily this afternoon was actually a parcel of clothing left by a careless shopper, police said.
The incident occurred at about 1:30pm yesterday when a resident uploaded pictures on the city's popular forum kds.com, saying that he saw the main gate of the Bailian Commerce Plaza on Zhenguang Road, Putuo District suddenly being closed with guards banning the entrance.
Another resident said workers at the shopping mall told him that a suspicious parcel had been found on the second floor, and he saw the workers condoning off the floor.
A bomb disposal team was also seen patrolling the shopping mall.
The police said after a thorough check that the parcel had only contained clothing.
The shopping mall resumed its normal operation at about 2pm.
