Six Shanghai workers trapped in Japan
SIX Shanghai women are stranded in Japan after the factory they worked for went bankrupt without paying them.
He Miaohong, one of the workers, called Shanghai-based Oriental Morning Post to seek help.
They were due a total of 10.2 million yen (US$112,765) for working over the past 15 months, He said. They have contacted the Chinese embassy and officials told the newspaper that they will investigate and help the workers get back their pay.
The six women, five from Jinshan District and one from Fengxian District, only speak simple Japanese. They live in the factory dormitory in suburban Shimane Prefecture and are eating food mailed by their families, He told the newspaper.
