Six killed in a shooting spree in suburban Shanghai
A 62-year-old man killed six people including four colleagues, an illegal cab driver and a barracks guard over an economic dispute in a shooting spree yesterday evening in Shanghai's Baoshan District, Shanghai police confirmed early this morning.
The suspect surnamed Fan, an employee of a private chemical plant in Baoshan, has been subdue by police in the factory at 11:15pm yesterday.
He pounded his colleague surnamed Zhang with tools and killed him at around 5pm yesterday, then he took his hunting rifle hidden in his dormitory and asked a driver to ride him away to another district. He gunned down the driver on the way and then drove the vehicle back.
He killed a guard at the gate of a troops barracks and grabbed the soldier's gun. After returning to the plant, he killed another three people with his hunting rifle.
Police are still investigating the case.
