Skill competition ends in Shanghai
THE 2017 China International Skills Competition concluded on Friday night with a prize-awarding ceremony in Shanghai after 227 competitors from home and abroad showed their skills in 21 different areas in the previous two days.
“I’m so happy now, but I can’t believe it,” said Monika Pöllabauer, the Austrian gold medal winner in restaurant service. “I’ve never thought I would win the gold medal because other competitors in my skills are also so good.”
“It was very hard training before the competition. But the competition was so well organized that it’s also great fun to be here,” she added.
The event, the largest of its kind held in China, was organized as China is preparing for the 44th WorldSkills Competition that will take place in Abu Dhabi in October and for its bid to host the 46th competition in Shanghai in 2021.
It was also expected to provide a platform for members of WorldSkills International to share experience and enhance friendship.
To let more young people know better about skills, the event was also open to the public and attracted more than 25,000 viewers.
