Smartphone app will help seniors monitor their health
A smartphone app that monitors the health of seniors will be trialed in Shanghai and neighboring cities.
The 365-I app allows the children of seniors to know their blood pressure and other vital signs around the clock. With a few simple taps, seniors will also be able to call an ambulance.
The program will cost 1 yuan per day, said Deng Xuemiao, the developer and operator of 365-I.
“It will be promoted in Shanghai and elsewhere in China by the end of the year,” Deng said at a press conference.
His company received more than 100 million yuan (US$16.1 million) in investment from Paris-based Butler Industries.
China has over 220 million people aged 60 years or above and the number will increase to 250 million by 2020 and 400 million by 2050, said Walter Butler, founder and chairman of the French company.
