Snow hits bullet train services
MORE than 40 high-speed railway services from Shanghai to nearby cities such as Hangzhou and Nanjing, plus the capital Beijing were canceled this morning due to heavy snow.
Other services were operating at reduced speeds for safety reasons, said the Shanghai railway authority.
The authorities said teams were working on snow clearing along the track.
There was little snow lying at railway stations, said the authorities.
Passengers whose trains were canceled can obtain refunds, said officials.
Weather forecasters have predicted rain, sleet and snow falling in Shanghai and neighboring areas today due to the influence of a strong cold front.
