Some fun events to enjoy first day of the New Year

A grand New Year parade show and fashion party will be hosted this afternoon at Grand Gateway 66 in Xujiahui.
Both domestic and foreign artists will present singing and dancing shows and give their New Year greetings in various languages. Interactive games will be offered to visitors. People who have fashionable dressing style also have chance to receive surprise gift and take part in New Year lucky draws.
Meanwhile, local music lovers will be presented a nostalgic-flavored New Year concert by local singers Jiang Qin and Sun Jin on this evening at Shanghai Art Theater.
The concert, in memory of the late Taiwanese pop singer Teresa Teng, will feature 30 or so representative songs of the music legend.
Jiang and Sun will also give novel and graceful interpretation of such classic songs as "The Spring of the Northland," "The Moon Represents My Heart" and "Across the Water."
Shanghai Mass Art Center will host a model exhibition and contest for model-making enthusiastists.
The exhibition which runs from January 1 to 23, will display models, vehicles and prototype models from famous cartoon productions and video games.
Veterans are also encouragd to share with people stories and challenges about model-building. New Year salons on the latest techniques and trends in making models and prototypes will be held.
