Soothing concert for mothers-to-be

TO celebrate the upcoming Mother’s Day, a special concert was held at Putuo District Maternity and Child Health Hospital for over 100 pregnant women and their families over the weekend.
Soothing music is good for fetus’ development and can calm them down after children are born, said Dr Zhang Lin, the hospital’s vice president and an obstetrician.
“Light and soothing music is good for fetus’ nerve development and enhances emotional communication between mother and children,” she said. “But loud music, rock concern and karaoke are not suitable, because pregnant women are likely to get too excited. It is risky for fetus.”
The hospital said it will organize more such concerts and help pregnant women pick up proper music.
