Southeast Asian ladyboy deported

A SOUTHEAST Asian man has been caught performing a ladyboy show in Yangpu District, Shanghai's entry-exit police told today's Shanghai Morning Post.

The 28-year-old told police that he planned to perform transvestite shows – illegal in China – during the World Expo, which runs from May through October in the city.

The man had been performing in ladyboy shows since entering China in late February, attracted by the high pay, according to police.

He was deported, fined 1,000 yuan (US$146.52) and banned from re-entry to China. His employer was fined 6,000 yuan.
