Souvenirs And Medicated Oil
THE Expo organizer is to build 80 stores across the site to sell souvenirs and 8 convenience stores selling food and drinks.
Fifty Chinese retailers yesterday signed contracts with the organizer to run the stores which will be at the site's entrances.
The convenience stores will also sell medicated oil which can help prevent fainting in hot weather, said Lin Shengyong, director of the Market Development Department of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.
The organizer expects total sales of Expo souvenirs to be about 2.1 billion yuan (US$30.76 million) over the 184-day event. Sales of licensed products for the Beijing Olympics made 139 million yuan during the 17-day Games.
There are 20 main categories of souvenirs including clothing, toys, stationery, bags, sports equipment, bicycles and personal care products.
