Spring Festival recalled in 780,000 Weibo posts

THE Shanghai Tourism Bureau's activity to collect memories of Chinese New Year celebrations has proven extremely popular, attracting about 780,000 Weibo posts in two weeks.
More than 3.9 million netizens shared their memories of festive dishes and all sorts of customs with a racy account of their unforgettable experience.
Their Weibo posts struck a chord of nostalgia. Many seniors recalled their traditions of spring cleaning, offering incense to the Kitchen God, preparing food on a wood-burning stove, and pasting New Year couplets on front doors. Some drooled over such must-haves as chunjuan (fried spring rolls) and danjiao (egg dumplings).
"In my childhood, the Spring Festival was greeted with great anticipation and excitement. Nowadays, it offers nothing except a family reunion diner and parties with friends," said an netizen identified as "zhimazhuzhu."
"Time has changed, but what has not changed is the longing to share joy with family members," the netizen said.
The Shanghai Tourism Bureau picked up 99 accounts and posted them on Weibo.
