Stranded sturgeon rescued

A sturgeon was found stranded in the tidal flat in Lingang Area by teachers and students from the Shanghai Ocean University on Thursday morning when they were surveying and mapping there.
They called police, fishery authority and the protection center of Chinese sturgeon on Chongming Island, pouring water and holding umbrella above it to protect it from drying and sunburn before professional rescuers arrived.
The sturgeon, identified as a hybrid one, has been transferred to the Shanghai Yangtze River Estuary’s Chinese Sturgeon Nature Conservation Area and in safe condition now.
