Stricter security checks at Shanghai airports
Shanghai's airports have upgraded security checks following the bomb blast in Beijing, and passengers are being advised to arrive 30 minutes earlier as a result.
All passengers will have to remove their shoes and belts at the Hongqiao and Pudong international airports from yesterday, the airport authority said.
The stricter checks take around three minutes per passenger and can lead to long lines, local carriers said.
Meanwhile, around two-thirds of the entrance gates at terminal buildings of both airports were closed from yesterday, while bomb checks were added at the entrances that remained open.
