Student in Shanghai court for stabbing NZ cabbie to death
A Shanghai resident who stabbed a taxi driver to death in New Zealand went on trial in the city today on the charges of intentional injury.
Xiao Zhen, 25, who had been studying in New Zealand until the incident happened in the early morning of January 31, 2010, allegedly stabbed the victim more than 10 times during an argument over the taxi fee.
Xiao reportedly refused to pay the taxi bill and in the ensuing struggle stabbed the taxi driver in the heart, causing the cab driver's death, said prosecutors.
Xiao pleaded guilty in court, saying he felt guilty and sorry for the victim and his family.
