JIADING District police have detained three loan sharks who tried to stop a student from completing her college entrance exam, officers said yesterday.
The student's mother, surnamed Tu, had borrowed 180,000 yuan (US$26,340) from the three suspects to pay off gambling debts before disappearing. The three suspects threatened her daughter they would stop her doing the exam on Tuesday if she didn't tell them her location. Police caught the three suspects after the daughter's teacher alerted police.
