A first-year student at Ouhua Vocational College in suburban Fengxian District is suspected of dumping her newborn baby in a trash bin in her dormitory toilet after the baby was found dead on Thursday morning.
The student was sent to a hospital after a teacher found she was very weak. The college said it had no idea who was the baby's father.
Fengxian police are investigating to determine whether the student committed the crime of infanticide.
