Supplies donated

THE Shanghai Fire Control Bureau has donated equipment to its counterpart in Dujiangyan since the city was ravaged in the earthquake.

The bureau donated fire control equipment worth about 5 million yuan (US$733,030), including a fire engine worth 420,000 yuan.

"To have advanced equipment is essential to tackle any emergency," said Chen Fei, head of the bureau.

The emergency equipment left by Shanghai rescuers last year was also donated to Sichuan Province's fire control authority.

Chen said the equipment included stuff for daily patrols and high-tech items for emergencies.
