Survey shows local citizens most science-savvy in mainland

City residents are believed to have gained the best understanding of science compared to their counterparts elsewhere in mainland according to a survey, Shanghai Association for Science and Technology said.

About 6.2% of mainland residents have basic and proper understanding of science while the rate is a higher 18.71 percent among Shanghai local citizens, the survey said.

The survey finds that Internet is the major way that local residents receive science information.

New discovery on science, new invention and new technology, and new medical development are the three kinds of information that are most appealing to local people.
