Suspect in murder traced after 2 years

SHANGHAI police have arrested a suspect in a murder more than two years ago, after tracking him down to a shipyard in Henan Province.

On May 20, 2009, a man, surnamed Huang, was found dead beneath a highway overpass in the city's suburban Xinqiao Town.

One man, surnamed Wang, was soon afterward held by police. He said he and another suspect, surnamed Liu, killed Huang in January.

But Liu could not be traced and the trail went cold until a recent campaign intensifying searches for suspects.

Officers visited nine police stations in Liu's hometown in Henan and finally received a lead that he had gone to Anhui Province to work with his father.

Officers went to the Anhui factory only to be told that Liu had just returned to Henan to work at a shipyard.

On September 13, officers held Liu at one of the 16 dockyards in Henan.

According to police, Liu confessed to Huang's murder and was brought back to Shanghai last week.
