Suspects caught after thefts in Hongqiao villas
SHANGHAI police have detained three men suspected of three burglaries in two upscale villa communities in Hongqiao area.
Police suspected them having stolen valuables estimated at over 2 million yuan (US$298,834). One of the victims was a famous show host in Shanghai, police said today but did not reveal the name.
The theft in the house of the show host took place around 4am on July 4. One suspect was searching for valuables while the other two were watching for him. Police said the suspects got flustered when the host went to the bathroom and they fled the house with some spoils and targeted at another house.
Police spent more than a month to solve the case. On August 20, the three suspects were caught in Guiyang and Bijie cities in southwestern Guizhou Province.
