Suspects in gold bracelet theft from store caught
CITY police said yesterday that two suspects who allegedly stole a gold bracelet from a store in suburban Qingpu District on January 8 have been detained.
The suspects, who fled to central China's Hunan Province, were nabbed last Friday and taken back to Shanghai on Monday, said police.
The robbery happened at noon on January 8 on Qingpu's Gongyuan Road. Police said one suspect appeared at the store as a customer for a gold bracelet. As the assistant handed the bracelet to the man, he grabbed it and ran off, said the police. The store staff failed to catch the suspect, who disappeared into the street crowds.
The suspects were later seized in Hunan, police said. They did not say if the bracelet was recovered.
