Take a (cheaper) walk on the wild side

TICKETS for Shanghai Wild Animal Park will be reduced to 100 yuan (US$14.62) for the National Day holidays from October 1 to 8. The park won permission to raise admission prices to 120 yuan in September after costs rose of food for the animals.

Two Baird's tapirs, a species native to Central America, will be shown at the park during the holidays. This is the second zoo after Beijing to display the endangered animal in China.

The two tapirs, brother and sister, were born at Beijing Zoo in 1998 and 2001.
