Tangerine picking fest in Binjiang Forest Park
THE Binjiang Forest Park in Shanghai's Pudong District is inviting people to pick tangerines that turned ripe 10 days earlier than normal.
A tangerine harvest festival will start tomorrow and last one month. Some 70 tons of citric fruits can be harvested in the riverside park, roughly a 30 percent increase over 2011.
This year's crop will be sweeter thanks to abundant sunshine and a drier weather, park officials said.
Park admission is 20 yuan (US$3) but people need to pay additional 20 yuan to pick and eat tangerine there and take 2.5 kilos of the fruit home.
