Taxi van hire costs to fall

THE starting price for local taxi vans in the Shanghai area will drop by 2 yuan ($US0.03) from January 16, Shanghai Price Bureau announced today.

Under the new pricing policy, the flag-down cost of a 0.6 ton van will be 20 yuan while for a 0.9 ton van it will be 25 yuan, eastday.com reported today.

The flag-down price covers a three kilometer distance. Three yuan will be charged for a 0.6 ton van for every kilometer thereafter and 3.5 yuan for a 0.9 ton van.
