Teen wins Expo diamond from Belgium

A TEENAGE girl from Minhang District has become the first winner of a diamond necklace - a gift from the Belgium Pavilion during the World Expo in a daily lucky draw.

The girl said she was doing her homework when told of her win and initially found it hard to believe, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

She said she would give the necklace to her mother.

The Belgium Pavilion started its daily draw yesterday, drawing the winner at 18:18 every day from participants who send in text messages.

A visitor from Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, was invited to make the draw yesterday from nearly 30,000 entrants, according to organizers.
