Tickets prove a popular festival present
EXPO tickets have become one of the favorite Spring Festival gifts.
To the end of January, more than 19 million tickets had been sold, according to the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, and many have been bought by companies and organizations to give to their staff.
Some companies said staff welcomed Expo tickets as a bonus.
One domestic automobile company, which didn't want to be named, said every staff member would get two single-day tickets.
Many families also regarded Expo tickets as ideal new year gifts. Huang Rui, a middle school teacher, bought 26 for members of his family.
"Both my parents and parents-in-law said they wanted to go to the Expo," he said.
"So my wife and I decided to buy them tickets. And we also counted brothers and sisters in."
Lvmama.com, an online travel company, said it had been receiving hundreds of calls every day asking where and how to buy Expo tickets.
"The amount of ticket demand was very large," said Pan Shuang, an official with the company.
The city now has more than 960 Expo ticket selling sites, and there are about 370 sites in neighboring Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
