Tiff led to 20th-floor high-rise descent

A MAN whose girlfriend told him to "go and die" during an argument climbed out of a 20th floor window and began to descend the building's exterior yesterday morning.

Early-rising residents in the community in Putuo District were astonished to spot the man clinging to the outside of the high-rise about 5am. Some assumed he was a burglar and called police.

"When I saw him," said a resident on the community's online forum, "he was on the air-conditioner frame of the sixth floor."

At the third floor he went into an apartment from where he was taken by police. He told officers he made his descent after his girlfriend shouted "you should go and die" during a quarrel.

While he was with police, his girlfriend came to see him, said witnesses. After questioning, the man was released without charge.
