Tipping pays off

SHANGHAI police have detained more than 3,200 suspects this year as a result of tip-offs. Police said they would continue to encourage tipsters with financial rewards. So far this year, more than 1,200 cases have been solved with information provided by residents. In the past six years, 1,591 residents had been rewarded with a total of 421,300 yuan (US$66,303).
