Tongren Hospital on fire, no casualty reported
A fire broke out in the Shanghai Tongren Hospital at 8:41am this morning and flames were seen leaping from the top floor of the hospital's building on Jiangsu Road near Yuyan Road in Changning District. No casualty has been reported so far, police said.
Hospital officials said people in the building were all evacuated in time and the blaze was put out by 9am. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
A witness surnamed Yang told an eastday.com reporter that fierce flames were shooting up into the sky from the roof of the hospital and people rushed out onto the road.
Thirteen fire engines rushed to the scene immediately and police cordoned off four surrounding roads. Traffic resumed by 10am, police said.
