Tot dumped twice
A six-month-old boy who was abandoned twice is being cared for in the hospital, waiting for his parents to claim him, Songjiang District police said. Police said the person who discarded the baby would be punished according to the law. The baby was found last week in a handcart in the district's Dongjing Town.
Police were unable to contact his parents with the telephone numbers written on a piece of paper left in the handcart, and sent him to the hospital. A nurse recognized him as having been abandoned and admitted to the hospital several months ago. An 18-year-old woman surnamed Liu gave birth to the baby but left alone, the nurse said.
