Traditional Chinese operas competition show makes debut

"BRAVO China," an original cultural program of traditional Chinese operas will debut on Dragon TV on Saturday evening.

The program is a new attempt of local TV producers to explore and display the charm of traditional Chinese culture following the popularity of "Poetry China," a program about ancient Chinese poetry.

On the stage of "Bravo China," grassroots contestants will perform classic and innovative excepts of traditional theaters such as Kunqu Opera, Peking Opera, Huju Opera, puppetry and shadow play.

So far more than 1,000 enthusiasts have applied for the competition, including an old man in his 90s and little kids. They will also share with audiences their own stories and dreams.

The jury panel includes famous actress Xu Fan, Peking Opera performer Wang Peiyu, popular singer Huo Zun and TV host Cheng Lei. The contestants will also receive voting from audiences.
