THE Shanghai Metro operator has streamlined the services on Line 13 due to the ongoing rush to and from the World Expo site. The new services became effective on Tuesday, the operator said yesterday.
The line has three stops, Madang Road and Lupu Bridge stations in Puxi and Shibo Avenue Station in Pudong.
Under its new timetable, on workdays from 9:50am to 10:50am and on weekends or holidays from 10am to 11am, one service is added to run from Lupu Bridge to Shibo Avenue Station, adding to the normal service running the full route from Madang Road to Shibo Avenue .
The operator said the number of passengers on Line 13 tripled in early June compared with May.
The line has carried more than 3 million passengers up until Tuesday from the opening of the Expo.
Daily commuter volume has increased to about 63,000 from 37,000.
