A VETERAN train ticket scalper swallowed a 5cm steel nail to evade being caught during a police raid on ticket scalping on Saturday.
Police immediately sent him to hospital and detained him for 15 days, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.
It is the eighth time that Li has been caught scalping tickets, this time at Shanghai South Railway Station, police said.
Officials have launched a citywide crackdown to safeguard ticket sales for the Spring Festival rush in mid-February.
