Truck flattens house, killing couple in sleep

A container truck lost control this morning and knocked down a two-story house on the roadside, killing an old couple in their sleep, local news website xinmin.cn reported.
The accident happened around 5am in the city's Jinshan District. The truck was driving on the Shanghai-Hangzhou Highway when it suddenly veered off the road and ploughed into the house.
The old couple was still in sleep when the disaster befell them. They died before rescuers found them in the debris.
The truck also pulled down an adjacent grocery store, but no one was injured, police said.
The driver, a native of Anhui Province, has been detained on suspicion of fatigue driving, the report said.
