Two arrested for deaths in high-speed road chase

PUDONG New Area prosecutors yesterday approved the arrest of two men whose multipurpose vehicle rammed into another car in a road chase and killed two people in the car.
The two suspects surnamed Xu and Ding allegedly drove a MPV in a high-speed chase after a Lexus sedan in the area of Chuansha in Pudong on January 4.
Prosecutors said Xu's MPV bumped into the Lexus and crushed it against a bridge pier on Huangxia Road, causing two people in the Lexus to die on the scene. Xu also hit the fleeing Lexus with a baseball bat during the chase.
Xu said the Lexus had hit his car before and he was beaten by the driver. He spotted the Lexus again and wanted to take his revenge.
Xu and Ding were arrested on charges of endangering public security.
