US teacher detained for molesting 6 children
Shanghai police have asked the Pudong District Prosecutors Office to approve the arrest of an American teacher who allegedly molested seven children at a local French school, according to the police's Weibo microblog.
Police said the suspect, surnamed McMahon, is now being held in detention. They said a French girl came to a police station in Pudong with her mother on May 12 to report the case. She accused McMahon, a 32-year-old English teacher, of molesting her several times at school since last September. She said McMahon also sexually harassed other students.
McMahon was detained the next day.
Police investigation showed McMahon molested six students aged 6 to 10 years old at the French school. He took them separately to the school library or an empty space in the name of checking their homework and forced them to take off their clothes.
Of the six students, five are French and one is an Italian. Two are boys.
