Unhygienic wedding gowns
SHANGHAI'S consumer rights commission advised newlyweds to check the cleanliness of wedding gowns they hire from wedding studios.
Most, or 83.7 percent, of the 43 gowns picked from 13 studios checked by the Shanghai Commission of Consumers' Rights and Interests Protection in November qualified as sanitary, but seven failed, with bacteria up to seven times the standard, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The "dirtiest" gown was from the renowned Paris wedding studio, while other failures came from popular studios including Huajia and Milan, according to the check results announced yesterday.
According to the Health Ministry, all rental products should be strictly disinfected.
But some local studios were slack in cleaning the gowns and some didn't follow the proper cleaning procedure, the committee pointed out.
