Union of leading maternity hospitals established

THE nation’s first union of leading maternity hospitals from capital cities was established in Shanghai over the weekend to improve the overall maternity service capability and boost health reform.

The union will share specialists, clinical information, scientific research and education to improve the medical capability of all hospitals in the union, said Dr Xu Congjian, president of Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital of Fudan University in Shanghai and one of the leaders in the union.

“There is a big difference between maternity hospitals in different regions in the nation and leading hospitals can help medical facilities in western and under-developed regions have access to advanced technology and offer training for their staff,” he said. “It is also in line with the national health form, which encourages cross-province unions on different medical majors.”
