Unlicensed driver injures police officer

A POLICEMAN was hit and injured by an unlicensed driver this morning when the woman behind the wheel mistook the brake for the gas pedal.
The policeman surnamed Zhang suffered a broken knee and is in a stable condition in the city's Changhai Hospital.
Witnesses said the accident happened about 8:30am on the Middle Ring Road in Yangpu District. The women driver, not identified, was driving a car without license plates, which is illegal.
Zhang signaled for her to stop but suddenly the car sped towards him and crashed into him.
The woman said she felt so nervous at seeing a cop that she stepped on the gas pedal by mistake.
