Unwed mom decides to give newborn to couple

MOVING into an apartment rented by her father, the 20-year-old woman who delivered a girl on Saturday was discharged with the baby from the No. 411 Hospital of People's Liberation Army yesterday morning.
Officials from Shanghai Youth League said the woman has decided to give custody of the baby to a Chinese couple who are working in the city and meet the requirements for adoption.
"Paperwork is still pending, as there are some legal procedures that the woman must meet," said Shen Ting, a youth league official.
"But we will give long-term legal and psychological support and help her go through all legal necessities that she must do for handling out the baby's custody."
In the attention-getting case, the woman met a black man in a bar in February and had a one-night stand with him. She left the next morning without asking for his name or contact information.
She is jobless and homeless after resigning from a restaurant late last year. Her parents divorced five years ago gave her little caring or support.
