Vendor stabbed at Jing'an metro exit

A middle-aged vendor was stabbed by two knifemen last night at the exit of a downtown Metro station in Jing'an District.

The unidentified woman's arm was hacked and she bled profusely until a rescue crew showed up. The woman was sent to hospital later and is in stable condition, police said.

The two attackers were later detained by the police.

The incident was reportedly caused by a dispute between two vendors on Wednesday over spots at Entrance 4 of the W. Nanjing Road Station on Wujiang Road, witnesses said.
At 7.30pm last night two men suddenly approached the victim who was selling accessories and stabbed her arm, witnesses said.

"She was definitely shocked by the two men and a 10-centimeter cut was soon seen on her arm," said a witness.

Other vendors called 110 and surrounded the two attackers with the help of security guards.

One of the guards said there were always vendors at the entrance in the evening who often had small conflicts over who could occupy the best spots.

The victim had been doing business there for years and previously entered into disputes with other vendors, the guard said.

The vendors said they had never seen the two attackers before.
