Victim escapes rape with sob story

A WOMAN stopped a man raping her by telling him she had cancer with only three months to live, according to Putuo District prosecutors.

Putuo District People's Procuratorate Office has charged a man surnamed Zhou with robbery, rape and molestation, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

Zhou, 30, followed the victim to her apartment on September 25. When he found nothing valuable in her purse, the woman told him she was working at a KTV bar for minimum wage.

Dropping the robbery attempt, he told her to take off her clothes and groped her, but she then told him she had only three months to live with cancer.

He gave her his phone number so they could become friends, but she told police, the report said.

Zhou, who was jailed for 10 years in 2002 for robbery, faces 10 years in prison if found guilty, according to the newspaper.
