Vintage Ford cars part of Michigan's promotion

VISITORS to the Shanghai Auto Museum in Jiading District will be able to see some vintage cars as the museum yesterday signed an agreement with the Henry Ford Museum of the United States to share exhibits and exchange scholars.

Rick Snyder, governor of the State of Michigan where the US museum is located yesterday launched the Michigan China Center in Shanghai to promote trade and cultural exchanges between Michigan and China.

Selected automotive artifacts from the collection of the Henry Ford in Detroit will be presented in the Shanghai Auto Museum according to the agreement signed yesterday by the two museums, which will also exchange curators, historians, educators and management personnel. An exhibition featuring Michigan tourism will be held in the Shanghai Auto Museum.

"I believe the cooperation will help carry on the legacy left by Henry Ford on the world's automobile industry," said Snyder.

The new Michigan office will focus on attracting Chinese investment and exploring trade, education and tourism opportunities with China, the governor said.

At the launching ceremony, officials from the University of Michigan and China FAW Group Corp signed a Strategic Framework and Master Research Agreement to enter into a five-year research relationship.
