Woman ejected 'for hitting bouncer'

THE Apartment, a bar popular among expatriates, yesterday defended its actions in ejecting a woman who claimed she was physically thrown out.

The establishment on Yongfu Road said the woman was asked to leave a Halloween party after she "hit a bouncer in the face."

The bar's response followed an accusation on Shanghaiist.com, a blog popular among expats, in which the woman complained she was dragged out of the bar by bouncers at the weekend.

She wrote that a bouncer "pushed her against the wall, and dragged her down the stairs," adding: "I have bruises all over my body."

Isabelle Dugal-Thompson, general manager of the bar, told Shanghai Daily she witnessed the incident.

"The young woman pushed her way upstairs while others were waiting in line," she said. "She was stopped by a bouncer who would not let her in and she started shouting and acting insanely."

Dugal-Thompson claimed the woman hit a bouncer in the face, and "the bouncers carried her downstairs."
