Woman surrenders after fatal attack

A WOMAN has surrendered to city police after she allegedly stabbed her lover to death.
Baoshan District police said yesterday the suspect, aged 37, initially fled to her hometown in Anhui Province after last week's tragic turn of events.
Officers brought the woman back to the city yesterday afternoon after she phoned them on Sunday.
The suspect, surnamed Zhang, tried to commit suicide by swallowing a bottle of sleeping pills after the killing, said a police officer surnamed Tang. He said Zhang was still suicidal and being closely monitored in custody.
Zhang told police she killed the victim, surnamed Cai, a 54-year-old canteen contractor, over a love affair that turned sour. Both were married ¨? but not to each other.
Zhang said she hid inside a van that Cai owned and stabbed him in his chest from behind as he got in about 3am on August 11.
"She stabbed him several more times after the man fell out of the car and onto the ground," an officer said.
