Work set to start at VIP hospital
A GROUND-BREAKING ceremony takes place on Friday in the Pudong New Area to mark work starting on Shanghai International Medical Center.
The high-end hospital is intended to bolster the city's ambitious dream to build a VIP medical center.
The phase 1 project, which contains 500 VIP beds in single or twin bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, is expected to be ready by the end of 2013, Pudong government officials said yesterday.
Parkway Health Medical Center, a private health care group based in Singapore, will be responsible for the operation and management of the new hospital.
Shanghai International Medical Zone Group Co Ltd and eight other social capital groups have invested in the medical facility.
