Worker almost buried alive in a cellar

A construction worker was buried and injured yesterday afternoon when a cellar he was digging underneath a villa house caved in, Xinmin.cn reported today.
The house in Yangpu District is currently under renovation. It is unclear whether the house owner had a permit to dig the cellar. Authorities are now probing the case.
The cellar collapsed at about 5pm yesterday and buried the worker up to his shoulder, leaving his head above earth, witnesses said.
Firefighters spend about an hour to dig him out and send him to a nearby hospital. The worker suffered only bruises.
